My new tie collection, "The Ties That Bind," is a tribute to my culture and the rich cultural motifs of the Pacific Northwest Coast. At Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week this year I showed a collection that was a beautiful fusion of tradition, innovation, and eco-conscious design.
Each tie in this collection is meticulously hand crafted from a combination of linen 5000 or wool 5000, chosen not just for their luxurious texture and elegant drape, but also for their high vibrational frequency and medicinal effects. These natural fibres are believed to resonate with the body's energy, infusing the wearer with a sense of well-being and vitality.
In a bold move towards sustainability, I have incorporates up-cycled leather scraps and other natural fur and fur products into my designs. These materials, which vibrate at a higher frequency than the human body at 100, carry a powerful connection to the animals they once belonged to. By repurposing these materials, I am honouring the spirits of these creatures and highlighting the importance of protecting our planet's precious resources.
The unisex neck ties in "The Ties That Bind" collection are not just accessories; they are symbols of shared values and a deep commitment to environmental stewardship. Through intricate crests and patterns inspired by Pacific Northwest Coast culture, each tie tells a story of our interconnectedness with the earth and all its creatures. They serve as a reminder of the vital role we play in preserving the water, the land, and all the wildlife that sustain us.
My New Collection "The Ties That Bind" I feel is more than just a fashion statement—it is a manifesto for change. My hope is by wearing these ties, we are not only expressing our sense of style and elegance, but also our solidarity with the natural world. In a time when environmental issues are more pressing than ever, these ties inspire us to take action, to protect the earth, and to nurture the bonds that tie us all together.
